If you ever post more of your lecture notes, I would love to download them as well. Much obliged!Cedricstudiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06281239965682009232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23438334.post-1144596489628454622006-04-09T08:28:00.000-07:002006-04-09T08:28:00.000-07:00Thanks for all the comments!Sorry emma, I didn't g...Thanks for all the comments!

Sorry emma, I didn't get back to your question earlier. Yes, I carry a sketchbook whenever I can but I don't get to use it as much as I'd like. All of this gesture stuff definitely applies to drawing from life. And in answer to your other question, I do that too. When I'm working, I'll draw pages of thumbnails to figure out the best way to draw something and have it communicate well.
Simplifying your work is very hard. A lot of people don't get that and they prefer "busy" drawings with a ton of detail. I will post more about that here and you should seek out the work of arists you like and analyze their stuff to see what they're doing. That's all I have ever done!mark kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11953166248647413142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23438334.post-1144432222850311092006-04-07T10:50:00.000-07:002006-04-07T10:50:00.000-07:00I always get bogged down in the details... this is...I always get bogged down in the details... this is a great handout.

Do you practice gestures like this from life, eg. kids in the park, people at coffee shops? Or do you sit down and do pages and pages and pages of gesture drawings and figure out which ones are most communicative?
I'm having real problems simplifying my drawings (and getting them to be appealing) so that they're suitable for story work... I'd like to hear your process.Emmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03701836084537450857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23438334.post-1144422919316985162006-04-07T08:15:00.000-07:002006-04-07T08:15:00.000-07:00Great tips. thanks for posting.Great tips. thanks for posting.Jorge Noujaimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09130049351694903531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23438334.post-1144340459315716892006-04-06T09:20:00.000-07:002006-04-06T09:20:00.000-07:00Thanks for taking the time to write such nice comm...Thanks for taking the time to write such nice comments!
