Bill Peet's "Mickey Mouse Club" Articles

Back in the 50s, Disney published called "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Club Magazine". Disney story artist Bill Peet wrote and illustrated these articles about the history of train travel for the magazine.

They are interesting because they may be the first published version of his writing, because they were published in 1957 and his first children's book was released in 1959.

I had all his children's books at one point. A lot of these drawings look familiar. Especially the train in the last one. Could he have been working on the books at the same time?

My youngest daughter (now 12) and I are huge Bill Peet fans. Every drawing is it's own story and when combined sequentially they really draw us into the story as they transcend what there on the page.

There will never be another like Bill Peet. Simply amazing.

I didn't know these existed. Thanks!

Hi... I have no idea where to put this, but I found this really awesome Behind The Scenes look at the visual development of Mulan by some German Disney artist? It's a fascinating writeup about how they got the style of the movie. Here: www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/articles/printer_friendly.php?ID=1604
