It all just feels right-- i know we can all work out WHY it's right too. but it just feels so right. like Milt or Franks animation. thanks for putting these up!
I'd love to see the storyboards that correspond to some of these shots (or any Disney animated film) and see how close they were to the final movie. Are these composition and value decisions normally made by the board artist or during layout...?
Thanks for the comments! Love your site Matt!Hey Marmax, that's a great idea. Someday when I have a ton of time I'd love to do that. I know the old Lion King Laserdisc had a side-by-side boards to finished silm comparison. There are other DVDs that have that, I think - I just can't remember which ones.
these are great, peter pan has awsome composition and also the lighting is good with a great mood in every scene, like a spotlight on the action.
Weird, the value thing is so striking here, but I don't remember seeing this kind of thing in cartoons that were actually made in black and white. I wonder if people only started getting wild with contrasts when color arrived...
Great idea making the screen caps black and white. I never thought of that but it really makes the contrast obvious. Now I want to watch Peter Pan...
